The expansion of social media has provided young people with new opportunities for political expression and communication. Unlike traditional political institutions, digital platforms allow individuals to express opinions, share political content, and participate in public discussions with relatively few barriers. This study examines how social media influences political expression among young people and its implications for broader political participation. The study uses a qualitative and analytical approach to examine existing research on youth engagement and digital communication. The findings suggest that social media encourages young people to express political opinions and engage with public issues. However, fear of online criticism, harassment, surveillance, and social pressure may discourage some users from openly participating in political discussions. The study concludes that social media has expanded opportunities for youth political expression while also creating new risks and challenges that require attention from policymakers and platform providers.
