Abstract

Digital technologies have reshaped the relationship between young people and democratic participation. Social media platforms provide opportunities for young citizens to communicate political ideas, challenge established narratives, and participate in collective action. This study explores the role of digital activism in promoting democratic participation among young people. The research adopts a qualitative approach based on a review of relevant academic literature and contemporary discussions on digital politics. The findings demonstrate that social media can strengthen political expression and provide marginalized voices with greater visibility. Digital activism also enables rapid communication and mobilization around political and social issues. However, the study identifies challenges including misinformation, online harassment, political polarization, and superficial forms of engagement. The study concludes that while digital activism cannot completely replace traditional political participation, it has become an important component of contemporary democratic engagement.
